Goat Life
This year we have sold a small group of our young goats- It’s important to us to keep the breed going and show others how rewarding and easy it is to keep them, despite how sad we may be to see them go.
It’s always important to us that we find great homes with people who understand the breed and ideally have experience with keeping livestock. We were so lucky to find a lovely home for our 6 little goats! They will go on to provide some quality fleece to make some fantastic natural products.
In other news, the rest of our goats will be going away for a few weeks. We are lucky enough to have access to some woodland grazing. This provides some much needed fresh grazing and also helps with new growth. Its also great shelter when the weather is wet and cold. This is important as they lack an insulating layer of fat beneath their skin, unlike other livestock.
Did you know…?
- The are extremely agile animals!
- They can recognise each other’s voices!
- Twin and triplet births are very common!
- They are social animals and prefer to live in groups!
- These are just a few things that make them unique and why we love them!
